California Poppy Fields

Recently, I took a trip to the infamous California Poppy Fields. Although the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is currently closed due to current circumstances, the poppies are in full bloom throughout the entire city of Lancaster.

Here are some tips to safely visit the poppy fields while respecting nature:

1. I mapped ourselves to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve and drive a 1/2 - 1 mile past the reserve. You'll see a trail and a hill on the left side. Park on the side of the road.

2. Hike up the trail and you'll see little trails within the fields of poppies.

3. Make sure to stay on the trails and don't step on any flowers.

4. Do not pick any flowers (sadly I did see some people doing this).

5. Use one side of the trail behind the poppies to make it look like you're sitting in the middle of a field of poppies (see below).

6. In post-production, use the clone tool in Photoshop to fill in any areas of poppies that may look sparse.

7. This spot was less crowded during the late afternoon to sunset on a weekday.

8. Keep a safe distance from other visitors (shouldn't be a problem since the fields are so vast).

Have fun, be safe, and respect nature! Feel free to send me a DM if you have any questions.
