Lake Tahoe | Explore the Outdoors

Hi friends!

What a year it’s been! Remember that trip to Australia I was supposed to go on back in May with Expedia? That trip was canceled and put on hold until it’s safe to travel internationally.

In the meantime, I’ve partnered with Expedia to travel locally to Lake Tahoe. We chose Lake Tahoe because we wanted to getaway to the outdoors and connect with nature while being socially distant.

Before I get into the details of my weekend trip, I want to disclose that health and safety is more important than ever, especially while traveling.

I liked booking with Expedia because all of the enhanced cleaning and safety practices offered by the property are listed up front so it makes booking easy and transparent. Some of the safety practices include contactless check-in, mask requirements, and social distancing. In addition to property guidelines, the app lists cleaning and safety practices by airline so you can compare while shopping for the best fare.

Want to book with ease? Expedia has a “free cancellation” filter to find accommodations that make it easy and stress-free to change plans if needed.

You can use code LIKETOGO12 to get 12% off participating hotels and activities through the Expedia mobile app. It’s valid through December 31, 2020 with travel dates through May 31, 2021.

Now let’s get into my trip details!

I booked our stay at The Landing because we walked by the hotel last year when we were visiting Lake Tahoe and loved it! They are taking all of the necessary safety measures and we felt comfortable booking a room with them.

We booked the Lakeview King room which had a gorgeous view from the porch that faced the lake. It was amazing to wake up every morning to that view and sit by the fire pit during sunsets. Plus, we had a cozy fireplace to snuggle up to every night.

Our whole experience start to finish was so luxurious, specifically the heated floor and toilet seat in the bathroom. The plush robes were also a nice touch too.

When it came to things to do in Lake Tahoe, we booked a private helicopter ride by Tahoe Helicopters through the app. It toured the Emerald Bay and had breathtaking views that we have never experienced since it was our first time in a helicopter. It felt so safe with our tour guide Marius who was so knowledgable about the history behind Lake Tahoe.

Another activity that looked super fun and would follow all safety guidelines was a scavenger hunt by The Sparkling Lake Tahoe Experience! You follow an app and you get to explore the city, learn new facts, and on your own time!

Please keep in mind that we wore our masks when required and only took it off during a photo while keeping at least 6 feet away from others.

We had some delicious food during our trip and I wanted to share our favorite restaurants in Tahoe below!

  • Basecamp Pizza: my favorite pizza place in Tahoe! They always have a long wait so I recommend calling ahead of time for reservations or doing take out. They have gluten free options.

  • Sprouts Cafe: We came here twice during our trip and it’s perfect if you’re looking for a healthy breakfast and smoothie/juice place. They have plenty of vegan and gluten free options.

  • Brooks’ Bar and Deck: This was such a cozy spot for dinner! We ate here our last night and I loved the soup which was a creamy minestrone and the Brooks’ Hot Buttered Rum cocktail.

That’s a wrap for our trip to Lake Tahoe! Take a look below for my recommended accommodations and activities.

While booking, please keep local and CDC guidelines in mind for your future trip. Let me know if you have any specific questions about Lake Tahoe over DM or email! See you next time! Xx
